Be Who God Created You To Be: Living out your faith in today's world
Be Who God Created You To Be: Living out your faith in today's world
The gospel message is outlined in the following certainties:
1- We all are sinful people
When Adam and Eve sinned, their sinful nature was passed down to all humankind.
We are not good enough to save ourselves. Therefore, we need a Savior.
Romans 5:19 – “For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.”
Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”
2- Christ came to earth.
Jesus was born of a virgin, Mary. He came to live a sinless life among us, to experience life as a person, to show us how to live, and to die for our sins.
John 3:16-17 – “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
Hebrews 5:9 (NKJV) “And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.”
1 Timothy 1:15 – “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners."
3- Jesus died an undisputed death on the cross.
He gave His body and shed His blood to forgive our sins.
John 10:18 – Jesus said, “No one takes it (life) from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”
Matthew 27:50 – “And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.”
1 Timothy 2:5-6 – “For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.”
4- God raised Jesus Christ to life.
God raised Him to life on the 3rd day to prove that Jesus was and is the Son of God. Therefore, He can forgive sin and offer us eternal life.
When the women went to the tomb in Luke 24:5-6, it says, “…the men (angels) said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!”
Romans 8:11 – “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”
5- Jesus is coming again.
He is coming to bring eternal judgment to every unbeliever and to take His children to Heaven with Him for all eternity.
Revelation 1:7 - “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him…”
In Romans 14:11, Paul quotes Isaiah 45:23 when he says, “It is written: ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’”
God loves you and wants you to experience peace and eternal life in heaven with Him. This is how you can be saved today:
1- Admit you are a sinner.
a. For example, have you ever told a lie? Have you ever taken anything that wasn’t yours? Have you ever lusted?
b. If you answered yes, which we all have, you are a sinner. We are all sinners.
c. The unforgiven sin in our life separates us from God and keeps us out of heaven.
d. So, we must admit that we aren’t perfect and can’t save ourselves.
2- Believe that Jesus is God’s only Son, that He died for your sins, and that God raised Him to life on the third day to prove He was and is God’s Son and able to forgive our sins.
3- Confess Jesus as the Lord of your life.
4- Repent
a. To repent simply means a willingness to turn away from (your sins)
b. In other words, to repent means to make a conscious effort to change from your sinful ways and to follow the teachings of Christ the rest of your life.
5- Pray:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust You and follow You as my Lord and Savior today and forever.
Paul tells us to take off our former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires, to be renewed in the spirit of our minds, and to put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth. (Eph. 4:22-24)
